The gills of Psilocybe semilanceata are dark brown. Young shrooms may have greyer-seeking gills, and more mature shrooms may have gills that look Just about black. The stems of the Liberty Cap are thin and comparatively extensive for the scale on the cap. They are often pin-straight or wavy.
